National Circularity Centre
Zenith Town Planning Pty Ltd is providing planning assistance to develop the National Circularity Centre at North Bega, NSW. The project is a jointly funded $100m initiative between private enterprise, the community and the NSW government. The Centre is being designed by Cox Architecture using world-leading sustainability and circularity principles, including through the use of rammed earth, recycled materials, and solar panels. A key ambition for the Centre will be to attract research and education events and programs, business events including sustainable housing providers and associated groups, with a view towards promoting methodologies for sustainable housing development to planners, architects, and developers across Australia and internationally. Town planning assistance comprises a planning scheme amendment to enable all land uses and a statement of environmental effects to support the development application.

Town scale solar farms
Development applications have recently been lodged to develop solar farms and battery energy storage systems near the townships of Gunnedah in the New England region of NSW and Coonabarabran and Orange in the central west region following the recent approval of a facility in Quirindi. These facilities are located to supply power directly to local households and businesses. The applicant is EDPR Australia Pty Ltd (formerly ITP Development Pty Ltd) which offers expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency, including research, development and implementation, managing and reviewing government incentive programs, high level policy analysis (including carbon markets), engineering design and project management. Zenith Town Planning Pty Ltd has been providing planning assistance to EDPR Australia since 2018 and has facilitated the approval of over two dozen town scale solar farms across inland NSW.

Housing along the Murray River
Having recently prepared a draft housing strategy for Murray River Shire Council, Zenith Town Planning Pty Ltd is now in the process of drafting land use stategies for Federation Council and Wentworth Shire Council, both located on the Murray River in southern NSW. These strategies are based on a thorough analysis of housing markets and infrastructure provision and take into account heritage, biodiversity, flooding and bushfire constraints. Both are founded upon sustainability principles and local government’s economic development goals.
